At the Instituto de Ingeniería, we connect knowledge creation with the needs of our region. Research, teaching and engagement guide our contribution to a more sustainable society.

Our history

The Institute resumed its activities in Mexicali in 1981. In 1982 it offered the Master’s program in Systems Engineering, followed by other graduate programs. Its history connects research and academic education with the needs of the region.

Our mission

Contribute to society’s well-being and sustainable development through research, teaching, outreach and engagement in science and engineering, with an inclusive approach and a commitment to democratic culture. Generate knowledge and develop people capable of proposing and implementing relevant, sustainable solutions to the needs of their communities. Promote environmental respect and social responsibility, and educate highly qualified graduate professionals who share these values.
